Filming for a new Sky1 comedy drama began in Watford High Street yesterday evening.

A film crew of 90 and 130 extras congregated in Watford Town centre last night to film scenes involving a burning car for a new 10-part TV series called Apocalypse Slough.

The Sky Living comedy drama will star Rob Lowe, Game of Thrones' Joel Fry, Paterson Joseph from Peep Show and former Birds of a Feather actress Pauline Quirke.

Other stars to recently film in Watford include David Walliams. Last month he filmed scenes for Partners in Crime, a new six-part adventure series based on a short story collection by Agatha Christie. The cast filmed on Tuesday, December 16 in The Oddfellows pub.

According to Creative England, the number of filmmakers shooting scenes in Watford is increasing year on year.

Gary Oliver, Section Head of Watford Borough Council's Culture and Play team, said: "Watford is seen as a really good choice destination for filming."

Apocalypse Slough is planned to air later in 2015.
