Young people across the county will get the chance to vote for who should represent them in the Youth Parliament.

Polls opened on Monday and be open until Friday, February 13 to give school and college students the chance to select who they would like to represent them as Members of Youth Parliament (MYPs).

When voting for their elected representative, young people will also be voting for their top three issues in Hertfordshire that will form the mandate for elected young people and the Herts Young People’s Manifesto 2015/16.

This year Hertfordshire County Council Youth Connexions is supporting 23 young people across the county to be elected to represent the ten districts.

CANDIDATES FOR WATFORD: Heather, 16, The Bushey Academy Aman, 11, St Johns Prep School Tom, 16, Watford Boys' Grammar School.

CANDIDATES FOR THREE RIVERS: Curran, 15, Dr Challoners School Shahbaz, 17, The John Lyon School Vivek, 13, St Clement Danes School.

CANDIDATES FOR HERTSMERE: Leon, 13, Bushey Meads School Jewel, 13 Bushey Meads School Natalia, 15, Sacred Heart Sahil, 16, Haberdashers' Aske's Boys' School Sam, 12, Chancellors School.

The candidates have prepared their manifestos, and are busy campaigning to win the votes of their peers.

Young people aged 11-18 who live, work or are educated in the county are eligible to vote and can view the manifestos and videos and vote via the ChannelMOGO website.
