A new project to help residents reduce their carbon footprint formed part of discussions at this year's first Abbots Langley Flower Arranging Society meeting.

The meeting was held on Thursday, January 15 at the Henderson Hall, and after a brief discussion on the year's events and financial matters, Caroline Whately-Smith, and active member of Abbots Langley transition Towns, explained details of a new project called Transition Streets.

The aim is to get neighbours sharing ideas to save money on energy, water, food, waste and transport, to reduce their carbon footprint.

This was followed by a new and updated talk on the History of Leavesden Hospital by Leavesden Councillor and Chairman of Leavesden Hospital History Association Martin Brooks.

Councillor Brooks is currently working with Three Rivers District Council to find a place for the numerous unique and rare artifacts he has been given relating to the hospital. If anyone has any items relating to the hospital get in touch with Councillor Brooks via www.leavesdenhospital.org.

The next flower arranging demonstration evening will be held on Thursday, February 26 at the Henderson Hall when Jenny Clarke will demonstrate "Bamboozal". Doors open at 7pm with the demonstration beginning at 7.30pm. Entry is £5 for non-members.
