The entrepreneurs of the future showcased their big business ideas at the annual Young Enterprise Trade Fair at intu Watford.

Dozens of Hertfordshire school pupils who are running their own companies for a year as part of the programme sold their products to shoppers at the Watford complex last weekend.

The Story Tellers from the Watford Grammar School for Girls won Saturday’s award for Most Sustainable Company and Best Overall Company went to Green Glass from The Royal Masonic School.

Rob Houslin, business teacher at Watford Grammar for Girls, said: "We are very proud of them because we tell them to run the business and only ask when they need help.

"It would be a lot easier if we held their hand through it so we encourage them to do it themselves as business is often suck it and see. We have got some gifted students and they’ve done very well."

UGrow from the Immanuel College clinched the Best Company gong on Saturday and Safestow from the Merchant Taylors School took the Most Sustainable Company award on Sunday.

Nathan Conn, Joint Managing Director of UGrow, said: "We are so happy to have won the Best Overall Company award today.

"Through Young Enterprise we have learned so much about setting up a business, and look forward to growing and improving our business in the future."

Arty Nuty Crafts Aim from Woodfield School won the Special Achievements on Saturday and Capture on Sunday for their commitment and courage being named as the outstanding year 10 group, and they also claimed the overall Special Achievement award.

Katy Burke, Young Enterprise Manager for Watford, said: "Thanks to everyone for their support and especially the intu for allowing us the opportunity of trading on both days and we hope to repeat the event at the same time next year.

"It exceeded the expectations of the intu management, our judges, and the Young Enterprise volunteers. The level of professionalism, innovation and enthusiasm among our students was outstanding."
