An Abbots Langley primary school will be holding its first ever Harry Potter Book Night at the beginning of February.

Divine Saviour Catholic Primary School have been getting ready for an evening of Harry Potter activities, which will take place on Thursday, February 5 at 6pm. Children and parents will have the chance to share J.K. Rowling's unforgettable stories and take part in games, activities and quizzes.

The night will begin with the Sorting Hat deciding who will be in which house, and then each house will compete for prizes by taking part in challenges. These will include a Harry Potter fancy dress competition, readings from Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone and Harry Potter Trivia.

Staff will also be dressing up the venue and serving snacks such as Butter Beer and Chocolate Frogs.

Sarah Scott, Assistant Head Teacher, said: "We are choosing to celebrate this day as a continual way to inspire our children with their reading and show them the possibilities that their writing can take them.

"We are also looking forward to our Key Stage 2 children having the opportunity of having workshops delivered by the Education Team at the Leavesden Studios in May."
