A government minister visited a Watford business this week.

On Thursday, January 30, Matthew Hancock MP, Minister of State at the Department for business, innovation and skills visited Freedom Communications, in Tolpits Lane.

The Tory minister visited the Tolpits Lane business with Watford MP, Richard Harrington because the company is seen as a growing SME (small and medium-sized enterprise).

Hertfordshire LEP’s Skills and Employment Manager Norman Jennings said: "Freedom is a perfect example of a company which is in the vanguard of the technology revolution but is strongly committed to putting something back into the local economy through its work in the community. "We were delighted to have been able to support the company’s successful Employer Ownership of Skills project. And we’ve been particularly impressed by the quality of Freedom’s commitment and input into the development of a new Level 4 apprenticeship programme for Unified Communications System Engineers. As a LEP, we can learn from Freedom’s experience and encourage other SMEs to follow suit and invest in the next generation of engineers and technicians."

Earlier in the day, Mr Hancock announced a number of multi-million pound deals which the Hertfordshire Local Enterprise Partnership says will "deliver hundreds of new homes, create jobs, support businesses and improve skill provision."
