Residents opposing plans to build more than 120 homes in Abbots Langley are urgently requesting support from people to sign their petition.

Many people in the area have opposed plans by Taylor Wimpey to develop new homes on land off Woodside Road, on the north-eastern edge of Abbots Langley, since September 2014, saying the development would be inappropriate and is not needed.

A Taylor Wimpey public exhibition took place in October, and Watford MP Richard Harrington chaired a residents meeting in November, but Paul Johnson, of Orchard Avenue, who started the petition, still feels Taylor Wimpey is ignoring their concerns.

He said: "There's been no planning application as of yet, but we've just had no contact from Taylor Wimpey - they're basically not telling us anything."

The petition began on January 27 this year and has already gathered the support of over 250 people.

Mr Johnson said: "We've had a lot of people registering their dissatisfaction over the proposals. They're fed up with over development, and if anyone else is unhappy, please sign the petition.

"Signing the petition will help us present a united front against the local council and the developers."

Taylor Wimpey has also said it would make land to the north of the site available to Hertfordshire County Council to build a new primary school should Three Rivers District Council approve its plans.

The proposed development site is currently an agricultural field used for grazing and comprises an area in the region of 10.5 acres.
