A motion to remove the Christmas tree in Croxley Green has been thrown out by parish councillors.
Councillors Frank Brand and Robert Ridley jointly presented a motion to remove the Christmas tree, which is positioned outside Croxley Green Library, in Barton Way.
But the plan was thrown out by Croxley Green Parish Council and Councillor Chris Mitchell, chairman of the authority defended buying the tree, at an estimated cost of £250.
He said: "It is like a lot of the things we do that will make the place a nicer place to live.
Councillor Robert Ridley told the Watford Observer he had been under the impression that Croxley Green Residents Association, church groups and schools would have held outdoor carol concerts by the tree.
He said: "It has been up two years and we have not had any outside carol concerts.
"I was not against the principle of having it, but if you are going to put forward something, it should come to fruition.
Councillor Mitchell confirmed there were plans in place to have a switching on ceremony on Monday, November 30.
