Footballers at Kings Langley School have been named the English Schools Association champions of the Eastern region, meaning they have qualified for the National Finals in Derby on March 2.

On Monday, February 2, the Year 7 Kings Langley School five-a-side football team travelled to the University of East Anglia to compete in the Eastern regional finals.

The team had a bright start with a comfortable 4-0 victory against Pakefield High School from Suffolk, and two more wins followed against Dr Challoner's from Amersham and Horringer Court from Suffolk.

The team then beat Robert Bloomfield from Bedford 4-2, qualifying Kings Langley School for the semi-final as group winners and were drawn to play against St Joan of Arc Catholic School.

A change of kit and a convincing performance saw them through to the final against Margaret Beufort School, but with less than a minute to play, the team were down 3-2. Luckily Matheos Maneli scored an equaliser.

The game went into extra time, and with one minute left, Max Lacey scored the winning goal.
