Commuters have taken to social media to pay tribute to the man who kept the Radlett station newspaper stand for more than 15 years.

Vinu Patel, who worked at the kiosk on Platform One, died last week after a short illness.

Many passengers found out through a note left at the site of the stand.

They paid tribute to  Mr Patel, saying he was a lovely man and that the station would not be the same without him.

On Twitter, commuters described him as a "dear friend" and said their thoughts were with his family.

Steve Bowbrick wrote on his blog, Radlett Wire: "I've been commuting from Radlett since 1999 and Mr Patel has been a friendly presence on Platform One for all that time.

"We chatted for a minute or two almost daily for all those years - usually about the weather, sometimes about cricket or his family. I know that so many other Radlett commuters did just the same and they'll miss him terribly."

Flowers have been left at the site of Mr Patel's newspaper stand.
