A Watford school was transformed into Harry Potter’s Hogwarts last week in celebration of the newly republished book series.
The event at Field Junior School, in Watford Field Road, was led by teaching assistant Mrs Lovejoy, who employed her art skills and vision for the night.
The school hall was transformed into a resemblance of The Great Hall of the novels, with coloured house tables, snitches, broomsticks, owls, bats and floating candles, while music from the films’ soundtrack played in the background.
Children were invited up onto the stage to wear the sorting hat and discover which house they would be in for the night.
Other activities included decorating their own wands and cloaks, creating potions and spells, quick draw challenges, ‘who am I’ tasks, a comfy book corner and a quiz at the end – won by Hufflepuff.
Miss Rooney, the school’s English leader, said: "The children had an exceptional evening that they will never forget."
