The senior maths team at Parmiter's School reached the final in a nationwide competition which pitted the UK's best young mathematicians against each other.

Parmiter's Senior team held its own against some of the country's highest ranking private schools in the national final of the team mathematics competition run by the UK Mathematics Trust and held at Royal Horticultural Halls in London.

There were 79 schools taking part, all were either the winners of their regional heats or a high scoring runner up - as was the case with Parmiter’s, who finished second to Harrow school.

The Parmiter’s team, which included sixth formers Zach Griffin, Andrew Lawrence, Louis Dunham and Sophie Baldwin, tackled the poster round well, answering all the questions on the mathematics of the solar system and producing a high quality, eye catching poster.

The team, which finished the day 54th, also scored highly on both the cross number puzzle and the relay round and rose to the challenge of the group round questions which included geometry, algebra and sequences.
