A former Parmiter's School student is set to compete in the finals of Miss Hertfordshire 2015 on Thursday.

Garston resident Holly Worthington, 22, made it to the semi-finals of Miss England from this stage last year.

A keen fundraiser, Holly has raised more than £10,000 for various charities over the past few years by taking part in sponsored cycles across the UK, marathons, obstacle races, skydives and bungee jumps.

Football-loving Holly will compete in the final in Stevenage, where she will have to wear a self-styled ‘eco-dress’ designed using recycled material.

Holly said: "I'm not the typical contestant - loving football, spending my free time doing any sports with an adrenaline rush and competing in military obstacle races, as well as being only 5ft 3inches.

"The next step is to raise money for the Miss World charity; and being a lover of fundraising I'm really excited about this.

"Beauty pageants are completely different to what I'd originally perceived them to be.

"There is a whole lot of fundraising work and thought which goes into the process, and the bikini round doesn't exist anymore - I was surprised when I competed last year and loved it so much I'm back again for another try."
