A Rickmansworth school scooped eight awards, including second place, at a Rock Challenge event last night.

The Rock Challenge was introduced in the United Kingdom in 1996 by Hampshire Constabulary with the aim to help young people enjoy school and live pro-active lives free of tobacco, alcohol, and other drugs.

Pupils from Rickmansworth School, Scots Hill, came second at the Be Your Best Stevenage Rock Challenge on Tuesday night and scooped another seven awards.

This is the tenth year the school has been involved in the event and they created “an atmospheric and eerie piece” called Witch Hunt.

The event, held at Stevenage Leisure Centre, attracted an audience of more than 500 audience members and was supported by Hertfordshire Constabulary, Stevenage Community Trust and Druglink.

Rickmansworth School won awards in the following events: Hertfordshire Police Award of Excellence of Choreography, Hertfordshire Police Award of Excellence for Concept, Stevenage Community Trust Award of Excellence for Visual Enhancement, Druglink Award of Excellence for Entertainment, Tega Award of Excellence for Lighting, the Be Your Best Foundation Award for Healthy Lifestyle and the Be Your Best Foundation Award of Excellence for
