Students at Kings Langley Secondary School are adjusting well to development works which began last week to rebuild the school.

Although no actual building has started yet, the works are in the initial preparation stage, which includes cutting down numerous trees on the site.

Head teacher Gary Lewis said: "We've been in negotiations the last few years, and some people were starting to think 'is this ever going to happen'.

"But everything's all on schedule and going to plan.

"A lot of the students have been surprised to see the trees go, and find that they can't go everywhere they used to be able to go, but they're adjusting well.

"The real essence is, there are great big yellow trucks and diggers around the school now, going backwards and forwards - it's now all real. It's all very exciting."
