Residents in Abbots Langley were told they lived in one of the safest counties at a Community Safety Forum last week, but also that problems with fly tipping had increased dramatically.

Residents were invited to attend the meeting on Thursday, February 19, at Henderson Memorial Hall, to raise concerns and make suggestions regarding safety in their neighbourhood.

Members of Three Rivers District Council's Community Safety Team were on hand to answer questions, promote the importance of Neighbourhood Watch, and emphasised that their three main priority areas this year will be crime leading to domestic abuse, anti-social behaviour, and public safety and vulnerable people.

After some discussion, Leavesden Councillor Martin Brooks, who also sponsored the event, said fly tipping in the area would also become one of the team's main priorities.

He said: "It was unfortunate to hear from Mr Stovold that fly tipping in the area has increased dramatically over the last year and I will be working with him to find ways to prevent and prosecute this type of offence in our community."
