Old and new members of a church in Kings Langley came together last weekend to celebrate its 140th anniversary.

Christ Church Baptist, in The Nap, held a two day event on Saturday, February 28 and Sunday, March 1, and friends and families, who have been connected with the church in various ways over the many years, were invited to come and share a host of its memories through photographs and old records.

Amanda Allchorn, a deacon at the church, said: "Saturday we put out the exhibition of old photographs and more recent ones, all depicting the church and community events we've done.

"There was a mixture of local people who came and also people who came back especially for the occasion who hadn't been to the church for decades.

"Many people, who used to be at church together, were recounting years ago, talking for hours, so it was like a reunion which was lovely."

On the Sunday, the church held a special service with Stella Hambleton, the wife of previous minister Reverend Michael Hambledon who passed away two year ago, as guest speaker.

Ms Allchorn added: "Over 100 people attended the event over the weekend and it was beyond our expectations and dreams.

"A lot of hard work went in to putting everything together and we're absolutely thrilled to bits with the outcome."
