Police have arrested a third teenager in connection with the attack that left Watford FC fan Nic Cruwys fighting for his life.
The 18-year-old was arrested from an address in Wolverhampton’s Fallings Park at around 3.30am this morning.
The 44-year-old from Hemel Hempstead was with a group of friends when he was attacked in Littles Lane, Wolverhampton, following Watford’s two-all draw with Wolves last Saturday.
Two other teenagers – an 18-year-old and a 13-year-old – have been arrested in connection with the assault and released on bail.
Detective Chief Inspector Chris Hanson said: "Our investigation continues and three people have been arrested.
"I would like to take this opportunity to thank people for providing information and I am now appealing to anyone else involved in this incident to come forward.
"My team of detectives are determined to trace everyone that was involved, they will identify you, they will get you, and they will knock your door.
"Do the right thing, think of this family man with young children and come forward."
If anyone has any information that could help this investigation then please call Wolverhampton’s Violent Crime Team on 101.
Alternatively people can leave information anonymously by calling Crimestoppers the independent charity on 0800 555 111.
Watford's CEO has today spoken of the club's sadness at the attack and Mr Cruwys' family will be the guests of honour at Vicarage Road for tomorrow's game with Reading, where fans plan to pay tribute.
