A programme of works to improve children’s play areas across Dacorum Borough Council is continuing and will see two sites in Kings Langley ready for the school holidays.

In all, 25 of the 52 play areas the council runs are being improves as part of the project, all with at least one piece of new equipment, and builds on the eight play areas that were refurbished in 2013.

The play areas in Ruckers Lane and Beechfield will be ready for the school holidays, along with another 11 sites in Hemel Hempstead, Berkhamsted and Tring.

Joe Guiton, neighbourhood action team leader, said: "With newer, more interesting equipment available like the hurricane swing and new wooden climbing frames imaginative play and social interaction is encouraged.

"Better weather is on the way and we hope the improved play areas will get people out into the parks and open spaces to have fun with their family and friends."

The total cost of the play improvements is £600,000, funded by the planned works budget from the Capital fund, and most sites will be completed by Wednesday, April 1.
