Parkgate Infants and Nursery in north Watford has transformed an ex-council mobile library into a new school library bus.

The bus contains the school's library, but school managers also hope it will help encourage reading for pupil's everyday enjoyment by holding story sessions in the converted bus, amongst other events.

It was officially opened by three pupils who were the winners of our Book Week story competition.

On the opening day all the children dressed in their finery attending the Oscars-style awards celebration for the stories.

Each class paid a visit to their new library and every child went home with a library book they had borrowed during their visit.

Parents, governors and younger siblings were also invited at the end of the day to come and look around the bus.

School librarian Pat Parr said: "It was a fantastic day and the children thoroughly enjoyed it.

"We had such wonderful comments from everyone who came along and the younger children also thoroughly enjoyed their time on the bus."
