Watford fan Nic Cruwys is in a "stable and comfortable" condition, a hospital official has said.

The 44-year-old is being treated at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham after being attacked by thugs on the outskirts of Wolverhampton city centre on Saturday, March 7.

The father-of-two is still in critical care but a hospital offical has told the Watford Observer Mr Cruwys is "stable and comfortable".

A Queen Elizabeth Hospital representative confirmed: “He is in a stable and comfortable condition.

“He is still in critical care but he is in a stable condition, but at the moment, he is stable and comfortable.”

The Watford fan was with a group of friends heading towards the train station when they were attacked by a group of males.

Five teenagers have been arrested in connection with the attack so far.

Last week, DCI Chris Hanson, who works in West Midlands Police's violent crime team said the force was “determind to trace absolutely everyone who was involved” in the attack”.

“We have got very clear CCTV. We will identify you, we will get you, we will knock on your door so please. Do the right thing. Think of this man and think of this family man with young children and come forward.

“This was a group of men, who as I say, this was an unprovoked [attack], what you would call pre-meditated in many ways, a group of men who selected the victim and his friends and obviously set upon him.”
