A TRIO of trainee chefs from Ayr College have won first place in the UK-wide Student Team Challenge.
Kallaya Smillie, 34, from Prestwick, Peter Graham, 19, from Troon and Craig Rodger, 23, from Kilmarnock, battled nine teams to win the coveted title.
Their menu - a taste of Scotland, the Med and the Orient - included haggis, sea bream and a chilli fruit salad.
Each won £500 worth of kitchen knives, a gold medal and a training visit to a top London hotel.
