A Rickmansworth-based charity has unveiled a new service for young children with learning disabilities.

Watford Mencap, which is based in Rickmansworth High Street, has launched the Bumble Club which will meet every Wednesday, between 10.30am and 12.30pm at the charity’s children’s centre in St Albans Road in Watford.

The sessions, which are open to parents who have children under the age of 5, will provide parental support and networking opportunities as well as a crèche for the children.

Watford Mencap’s qualified play workers will work with the families to show them ways to communicate and play with the children but will also run one-to-one sessions where specific needs are identified.

Children’s Centre Manager, Sarah Fishwick, said “These families each have differing and individual needs.

“We can help the child to make friends, get out and about, play and learn.

“Our support will help them to meet other parents in the same situation and develop their parenting skills. We want to help families to support each other and receive encouragement from others who have already been through similar situations. “
