A fashionista hosted a clothes swap party in Bushey to help support a project that tackles poverty in Bolivia.

Cat Morrision, of Fleetwood Way, South Oxhey raised nearly £100 at the event on Monday in the First Bushey Heath Scout Group in Little Bushey Lane.

People paid £5 entrance fee and had to bring three to ten items of clothes, shoes and accessories, which they could swap for as many items as they liked.

Ms Morrison said: "It was a fun evening with lots of people experimenting with fashion and trying things on that they wouldn't normally choose when spending money on clothes.

"One lady even said to me 'it seems too good to be true, I feel like I've stolen a load of clothes'. We did have some clothes leftover too, which will be donated to Oxfam."

The money raised will go towards Ms Morrison's trip to Bolivia next month, where she will team up volunteers and over the course of ten weeks, help tackle some of the poverty problems.

The 25-year-old said: "The project I’m working on is run by the development charity, Tearfund and aims to raise awareness of HIV and prevention. It is based in Sucre, the capital of Bolivia and is 200 miles south of Cochabamba.

"This is a unique opportunity to work alongside people from a different culture who have requested help from young volunteers to fight poverty and make a difference where it’s needed most. I’m really excited to get out there."
