Organisers of the popular Rickmansworth Festival are hoping more than 20,000 people will attend this year’s event.

The Rickmansworth Festival will be held at a site between Batchworth and Stockers Locks and in part of the park at The Aquadrome, Frogmoor Lane, on Saturday, May 16 and Sunday, May 17.

The event will feature a number of attractions, including live music, children’s attractions and what organisers are describing as “the wonderful array of canal boats”.

The festival opens at 10.30am and runs through until 10.30pm on Saturday night and on Sunday, people can enjoy entertainment from 10.30am until 5.30pm.

Rickmansworth Festival has been described as the “finale of Ricky Week” on the festival’s official website. Ricky Week will kick off this year on Saturday, May 9, with a parade of decorated floats travelling down High Street, Rickmansworth.

David Montague, one of the organisers, said: “We have got a great collection of bands, all local groups, school groups, choir groups.

“We have got Spitfires flying past.

“We have got something for everyone. There are attractions for children, including a fun fair and a children’s farm.”

Rickmansworth Festival is organised by volunteers from the Heritage Education charity, Rickmansworth Waterways Trust.

The 58-year-old added: “There is no charge for admission, but the Trust depends on the donations of visitors, and there are plenty of opportunities to contribute.
