A Watford housing association is offering a free training course to residents who are interested in setting up their own small business.

The course will begin with a two-hour taster session on Tuesday, April 21, from 11am to 1pm at Leavesden Green Community Hub off Clarke Way.

It will be followed by a 13 week course on Tuesday mornings, covering topics such as researching your business idea, registering a company and marketing your business.

The course is open to anyone living in Watford and Three Rivers, but priority will be given to tenants and leaseholders of Watford Community Housing Trust.

It is being run in partnership with Enterprise Cube, a training provider which works with housing associations and other organisations up and down the country to provide business start-up courses.

Euan Barr, head of new business at Watford Community Housing Trust, said: "We know there are many people living in our community areas who dream of working for themselves. They might have a hobby they can make money from, a talent for arts and crafts or some other business idea they want to get off the ground.

"We want to tap into that potential because it will help create jobs and prosperity in our local neighbourhoods – and that’s a big step towards achieving our goal of healthier, wealthier, friendlier communities."
