Young people from schools in Watford could show their potential as science and engineering stars of the future at a University of Hertfordshire event next week.
The Engineering Education Scheme (EES), on Friday, April 24, allows 16 and 17 year olds to work for six months on a real commercial project with a local company.
Teams from Watford Grammar School For Boys and Parmiter's School are taking part this year, and will be competing against 14 other schools from Hertfordshire.
At the event around 80 students will learn whether they have been successful in completing their technically advanced projects as they present their work to an expert panel.
Gennie Franklin, South East director said: "Over 30 years more than 30,000 young people have successfully graduated from EES and research suggests that over 90 per cent of EES students go on the science, technology, engineering or maths degrees and 75 per cent of them start careers in these sectors."
