Residents have spoken about the importance of voting in the General Election as part of a campaign by a council.

Watford Borough Council took to the streets to ask people why they felt it was important to have a voice at the polling booths.

The purpose of the short film is to encourage people to register to vote before the cut-off point of midnight on Monday.

Sophie Wood, 28, said: “If you care about jobs, your future, your pensions, how you vote will affect all of those things.”

Alex Hughes, 24, said: “I think it’s important to vote, so you’ve got a say in the way everything’s run.”

Richard Harris, 36, said: “I think it’s important to vote, because if you want to change anything, you have to be involved.”

Residents will need to register to vote if you have recently changed address or if any of your personal details have changed.

You can register to vote at www.gov.uk/register-to-vote, but if your name or nationality has changed, you will need to email elections@watford.gov.uk or ring 01923 278369.
