A Watford baby and her canine friend are enjoying their moment in the spotlight after appearing in a national TV advert.

Seven-month-old Elarose Smith and family dog Oscar have starring roles in Pets at Home's new spring advert.

The smiley baby can be seen in the opening clip of the commercial playing with her grandparents' four-year-old pooch.

Proud mum Jemma, 28, said she sent the short home video to a producer at ITV and was shocked it was included in the campaign, which also features Watford tabby cat Jack in another clip.

The retailer launched a search for real life footage of pets last year, and the clips were selected from thousands of entries to appear in the My Pet Moments advert which first aired on Wednesday, April 15.

Jemma, who filmed her daughter with parents Julie and Mathew Scott's pet pup, said: "The clip is only a couple of seconds long, Elarose was six months at the time. In the video the two are lying down and Elarose puts her hand on Oscar's paw and looks up at him. It's very sweet.

"It's great when we're watching television and we see it come on by surprise, but as they're in the first clip by the time we hear the music we've missed most of them.

"Elarose always gives us a smile when she sees the camera, she's very photogenic."
