Satin sashes, strong smiles and a shared name are the trademark of this group of women who for the past six years have stepped out together to support Peace Hospice Care.

The Kaur Blimeys, who span three generations, come together once a year to take part in the Starlight Walk.

Suky Sanghera, group organiser, said: "We are all Sikh, Kaur is our middle name. That’s where we get the Kaur Blimey’s title.

"Every year my mum comes up from Kent for this walk. My daughter also takes part and other family members come from near and far.

"We all have our reasons to sign up. I have heard so much about the hospice and how wonderful it is so I want to do my bit to raise funds for such a great charity.

"Some of our group have had loved ones cared for by the hospice so it is a walk that is also emotional as well as fun."

On Saturday, July 11, Suky and the Kaur Blimeys are once again planning to join the Starlight Walk and planning is underway.

"We always start at my house with samosas and tea," said Suky.

"We finish in the Colosseum and really enjoy that shared end of walk cuppa.

"Peace Hospice Care is part of the community here. I work in Santander Bank in Watford and so many of my customers talk so fondly about the hospice.

"It’s a good feeling to know the Kaur Blimey’s have done something great for a good cause."
