Plans for a two-storey extension of Watford's University Technical College were approved by councillors last night.
Watford Borough Council's planning and development control committee granted planning permission for the revised extension to the west of the school in Colonial Way, which had previously been given permission for a four-story addition in August.
Permission was also granted to keep the main entrance where it is and change some of the exterior design to include the school colours, lime green and purple.
A representative of the applicant, Meller Educational Trust, explained plans to build a separate auditorium had been scrapped in favour of instating a dual purpose sports hall.
Councillor and committee member Mark Watkin said: "This application is not controversial at all. It's so rare to have an application that reduces its impact in the area it sits.
"All success may I wish it. It has my whole hearted support."
