The Kings Langley Christian Aid Group is hoping to raise £5,000 by holding a Silent Auction from May 10 to June 5.

The group are currently appealing for items or ‘promises’ from local businesses to contribute to the auction.

Every business that supports the auction will be listed on 5,000 flyers that will be distributed within the village during May. Business logos supplied can also be printed.

During the auction you can register and place bids by email to auction@king-langley-churches.org.uk or in writing to The Silent Auction, All Saints Church Office, Church Lane, Kings Langley, Herts, WD4 8JS.

You will be given a bidder number to quote when you place bids. The website will be updated weekly, and then daily during the last week of the auction, so you can see if your bid is still the highest.

The final highest bids will be shown on the website on June 6, and the winning bidder will be informed by email or phone, and should then collect the item or pay an extra charge to have it despatched.

With ‘service’ lots, once payment has been made the group will give the successful bidder the donor’s contact details and it’s then up to the parties to make arrangements between them.

Chris Pettit, a member of Kings Langley Christian Aid Group, said: “Promote your business by offering a free sample or token to the winning bidder. Boost your profile by reaching more people in the local community and help us relieve poverty at the same time.

“If you are not able to offer a free sample, perhaps you could support us with a cash donation.”
