The leader of Hertsmere Borough Council was left disgusted when the rotting food in his recycling bin was tipped over his driveway.
Councillor Morris Bright, of Burghley Avenue, Borehamwood, says his five-year-old son Jonah and his wife Kirsty came home to find the mess outside their home last week.
Cllr Bright believes it may have been done in response to the fact that the bins were collected late.
He said: “It’s wholly unreasonable to tip rotting food waste on my drive and upset my wife and my child.
“It smelt, there were flies around because it was sunny out. My wife couldn't get on the driveway there was so much of it.”
They immediately called Hertsmere Borough Council who cleared the mess and the incident was not reported to the police.
He is now calling on people in the borough to approach him with problems instead of attacking his family.
He added: “I didn't want to touch the stuff but someone came over to shovel it.
“If someone has an issue, I want them to come to me and we’ll work through it together. I don’t want to inflame this any further.
“It was such an inappropriate way to behave. The councillors are elected people – don’t take things out on our family.”
