A West Watford heating engineer will appear in international television sensation Game of Thrones after winning a bit part in the series.

Father of three Winston Davis, 32, was flown to the set in Croatia for a day of filming with star Maisie Williams, who plays Arya Stark in the HBO show.

Winston, who got on the plane hours after his youngest son was born, said he had fulfilled a lifelong dream to appear on the small screen.

He said: "It was the most amazing week of my life. My son was born on the Tuesday lunchtime, and I was flown out in the early hours of Wednesday to have enough time with costume, make-up and walk through before filming on Friday.

"In the scene, I play a tough guy who tries to mug one of the main characters. It's only a few moments, but it took us six hours to film.

"The way they run the set is so professional, they plan everything in such meticulous detail. It was amazing experience."

Winston, who starting taking acting classes two years ago, won the part after his agent helped arrange an audition.

He said it had been a privilege to work with such a talented actress as Maisie, 17, who has been in the show for all five series, and she had been a major inspiration.

The director of Taylor Duckworth, Winston said he didn't want to keep thinking he should have been an actor.

From school age he had been involved in performances and took an A Level in drama.

Winston said he wanted to show three sons it was never too late to live your dreams.

He said: "I'm a businessman with a family, it just goes to show you can still go after your dreams.

"You've got to go after what you want to achieve. I'd always wanted to be an actor, but I got married, started a family and my company. A couple of years ago I got back into acting classes."

Winston is in series five episode two of Game of Thrones.
