A Watford bathroom company has caused a splash after putting out a national job advert - for a duckling.

Bathrooms.com advertised for an official bath tester in a UK newspaper this week, requesting the feathered candidates must be self-starters, inquisitive and have a two-metre swimming certificate.

The extended job spec online includes further responsibilities such as being able to "dive, dunk and swim around baths" and "rigorously test and critique the ‘splashability’ of baths".

The online retailer will shortlist candidates who fit the bill and hold interviews the week of beginning Monday, May 11, to find the perfect duckling for the advertised role.

The chosen duckling will join the team at the company HQ in Watford on a salary "subject to experience".

Ian Monk, Bathrooms.com CEO and founder, said: "First and foremost I can confirm we’re not going quackers.

"The idea started a few months ago when I was watching my pet ducks in the garden and noticed how much they love swimming, and thought they’d be perfect testers for our baths.

"We’re looking forward to receiving submissions and a new member joining the team very soon."

Anyone with a web-footed friend as a pet, and who thinks they would take to working life like a duck to water, can apply on their behalf at http://www.bathrooms.com/duck-tester/.

Applications close on Tuesday, May 12, and any duckling can apply.
