Two men and two teenage boys were injured in Watford this afternoon after a number of glasses were thrown outside Walkabout bar in The Parade.

Three were taken to hospital for further medical treatment following the incident at around 4.50pm.

Detective Chief Inspector Clare Smith said: “It is believed that one man may have been responsible for throwing the glass. The area was very busy at the time and it may be people did see something being thrown but didn’t appreciate the serious consequences of what had happened.

“If you have any information which could assist the investigation please contact police without delay. Quite rightly football fans are in high spirits and whilst we do not believe this was an intentional act, we need to trace the person responsible.

“It is good to see the majority of people enjoying themselves and in the main part fans are receptive to our engaging style of policing.

“I would like to reassure you that officers will remain in town, as we normally would on a Saturday night, to ensure people can celebrate safely. We are grateful to the fans and wish everyone an enjoyable rest of the evening.”

Anyone who can assist the investigation is asked to contact the Herts Police non-emergency number 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
