A Watford businessman is to run a brutal 56-mile ultramarathon in South Africa for a London-based clean water charity.
Will Luff, a director of a commercial eyewear website based in Watford which provides costume glasses for the British film industry, is set to take part in the Comrades Ultra Marathon which is entirely uphill between Durban to Pietermaritzburg.
Will could lose the best part of a stone in weight, as well as potentially experience cramps, dizziness and inevitable blisters on the run.
This grueling challenge means Will has to complete up to 100 to 150 miles per month in training.
But he won’t be stopping after this run. Over the course of a year he is sue to compete in three Ultra Marathons and five standard marathons.
Will is running the Comrades Marathon in order to raise money for Greenford charity WellFound, which provides clean water and sanitation to poor communities in West Africa.
