Two banners damning the Liberal Democrats appeared in Abbots Langley this morning, the day of elections.

The banners, which criticised the Liberal Democrat's handling of Green Belt land in the area, were seen by residents at around 6.15am, tied to the footpath railings by College Road roundabout and Woodside Road roundabout.

One resident said the banners were removed at around 7am, adding "so much for freedom of speech".

Last week, the Watford Observer reported another banner being displayed across a house with regards to how residents feel they have been treated over a proposed 120 home development in Woodside Road.

The banner was put up by Orchard Avenue resident Paul Johnson and reads 'why did Lib-Dems allow building on Green Belt without consultation?’ Mr Johnson is a member of the Woodside Action Group, a group of residents living around Woodside Road, who have been unhappy with the plans by Taylor Wimpey since they were produced in September last year.

The group are unhappy with a number of aspects about the plans, particularly with, they say, a decision by Three Rivers District Council to remove the site's Green Belt status in November 2014.
