Students from Immanuel College were one of two schools in Hertfordshire crowned best companies in a young enterprise competition.

Team UGrow from the Bushey school took part in the Young Enterpise Company Programme Hertfordshire final, hosted by the University of Hertfordshire, on April 23.

The students' company manufactured and sold seed growing kits aimed at young children and managed to beat off competition from six other teams and be crowned the winners.

They said: "We are delighted that all the hard work we put into designing a great product with so much potential to introduce new gardeners to growing food has been recognised by the judges.

"Being voted as a Hertfordshire Best Company of the Year has really boosted our confidence and motivation to succeed in the future."

The other team who was received the best company award was Orendo, from St Helens School in Northwood.

The teams will now represent the country at the Company Programme East of England final on June 18 at Robinson College in Cambridge.
