Two people charged with the murder of Watford student Shahana Uddin appeared in court today.
The 19-year-old died from injuries sustained in a physical assault at a house in Leavesden Road on October 11, police said.
Salma Begum, 32, of Leavesden Road Watford, was charged with murder, causing or allowing the death of a vulnerable adult and conspiracy to pervert the course of justice.
And Suhail Uddin, 35, of Leavesden Road Watford, was also charged with murder, causing or allowing the death of a vulnerable adult and conspiracy to pervert the course of justice.
They appeared at Hatfield Magistrates Court this morning. Both have been remanded in custody and are due to appear at St Albans Crown Court on Monday, May 11.
Five others also appeared before the court today charged in connection with Shahana’s death, which came just days before her 20th birthday.
The five are:
Laila Begum, 25 of Grove Road, Romford, was charged with causing or allowing the death of a vulnerable adult and conspiracy to pervert the course of justice.
Rehena Uddin, 21 of Leavesden Road Watford, was charged with causing or allowing the death of a vulnerable adult and conspiracy to pervert the course of justice.
Tohel Uddin, 23, of Middle Ope, Watford, was charged with causing or allowing the death of a vulnerable adult and conspiracy to pervert the course of justice.
Jhuahal Uddin, 33, of Middle Ope, Watford, was charged with causing or allowing the death of a vulnerable adult and conspiracy to pervert the course of justice.
Finally, Jewel Uddin, 27, of Leavesden Road, Watford, was charged with causing or allowing the death of a vulnerable adult and conspiracy to pervert the course of justice.
All five were remanded in custody and will appear at St Albans Crown Court on Friday, May 22.
