A student on placement at an Abbots Langley charity showed her support by taking part in a 10,000 foot skydive over the weekend.

Hollie Collins, a student at Brunel University, who has been on a work placement at Mallard Road-based charity DEMAND since September, was one of six people to take part in the charity's Superhero Skydive fundraising event on Saturday, May 16.

Miss Collins was joined by Sadie Stock, James Bradley and Dean Carr from Imagine Estate Agents, her friend Rebecca Storey and David Gibbon from Sheng Nuo Ltd, based in Hemel Hempstead.

Money is still coming in for the event, but so the charity has received just under £2,000, which will go on to fund the design and manufacture of bespoke disability equipment for anyone who cannot find a solution to their needs on the market.

The skydives took place at North London Skydiving Centre Ltd. in Cambridgeshire, and Denise Gillies, fundraising manager for DEMAND, said: "We are thrilled to be supported by fundraisers who have given their time to spread the word of our charity in their own families and communities.

"DEMAND are always in need of donations and the money raised from this year's skydive will go a long way to help people with disabilities not only in their everyday lives, but also enable participation in education, sports and leisure activities."
