A teenager who was smashed over the head with a bottle after a “mass brawl” in a Rickmansworth pub, was taken to hospital with a cut head, police said.

Witnesses took to social media to say there was a “mass brawl” at The Pennsylvanian in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Police confirmed they were called to the High Street pub and officers found a man with a head injury.

Detectives believe the cut came after the 17-year-old was smashed across the head with a bottle.

The victim was standing in a group of people when he was struck with the bottle.

He was treated at the scene by ambulance crews and he was then taken to Watford General Hospital for further care.

Detective Constable Daniel Evans, who is investigating, said: “There were a number of people outside the pub at the time and I am appealing for anyone who saw the incident to contact me as soon as possible.”

Anyone who saw or heard anything is asked to call police on 101.
