Police are appealing for witnesses after a man in his 40s sustained a fractured eye socket during an alleged assault in Watford.

Police said at around 11am on Friday, May 15, two men were in a verbal altercation in Westland Road and it is alleged a man in his 40s was assaulted. He sustained a fractured eye socket and bruising.

Detective Constable Tanzeem Siddiqui said: "I’d like to speak to anyone who witnessed what happened or the events prior to the incident.

"As this happened during the daytime on a fairly busy road, it’s likely there were other people around. If you remember seeing what happened, however insignificant the detail may seem, please contact me straight away."

  • A 28-year-old man from Borehamwood has been arrested on suspicion of assault and released on police bail until June 23.
