Carpenders Park representative Eric Bishop has been selected as the new chairman of Three Rivers District Council.

Councillor Bishop, who represents Carpenders Park at the council, was elected as the chairman of the council at a council meeting on Tuesday night.

He said: “There are a lot of small charities that are running services in our community.

“I want to visit as many as possible this year and honour the people who give up their time to run them.

"I will also be visiting places not normally visited including the many scenic places and historic buildings - in order encourage other people to do the same.

“I will be fundraising this year for Home-Start Watford & Three Rivers which helps local families with young children, and Parkinson’s in West Hertfordshire, which helps sufferers of that awful illness.

“I also want to help the Box Cleva group in South Oxhey which brings a lot to the community by teaching young people self-discipline and improving fitness using boxing training.”

In taking up his office, Councillr Bishop also paid tribute to the outgoing Chairman, councillor Chris Lloyd.

He added: “Chris has made over 400 official visits in the last year and I want to follow his excellent work – particularly in his work visiting local schools.”
