Barbie, Fireman Sam and a Transformer will be among the all-star cast to open Smyths Toys Superstore in Watford.

Skylanders’ Gill Grunt and Shopkins’ Strawberry Kiss will also be at the launch of the toy shop on the Waterfields Retail Park at 9am on Saturday.

There will be face-painting, candy floss and a host of prizes up for grabs at the opening of the store, which has created 30 new jobs.

Store Manager Gemma Lines said: “We’re thrilled to be opening a new Smyths Toys Superstore in Watford.

“We aim to offer a fun-filled shopping experience for our customers, with the best range of products at the most competitive prices all year round.

“There’s sure to be a tremendous sense of fun at the store and we invite everyone down to join the party on our opening day.”

Smyths takes over the unit vacated by the Borders bookshop six years ago.

The Watford store is one of 10 new shops to be opened by Smyths this year, taking its total to more than 80 stores around the UK and Ireland.
