Runners at this year's Kings Langley Puffaten can expect to see some notable crime fighters before the race.

Hemel Hempstead MP and Home Office and Justice Minister Mike Penning will be returning to the event on Sunday, June 14 as guest of honour, starting all three races and handing out medals to all the finishers.

He will be assisted by crime fighters Batman and Robin who will be making sure everyone is warmed up before the fun runs begin.

Paula Harris, headteacher at Kings Langley Primary School, where the event is taking place, said: "We have been very lucky again this year to have a number of local sponsors, which means all the profits go to local charities.

"In addition, the three races - 1.5k, 3k and 10k - mean there are distances for people of every age and every ability - even mums and dads with push chairs."

Race director Alan Johnson added: "Thanks to all the local publicity we have more marshals and officials this year.

"It doesn't take very long, the shorter fun runs will be finished within 30 minutes, but it means all the runners have some friendly faces and vocal support.

"There will also be cyclists at the front and back of each run to ensure we count them all out and count them all back."

This year, the organisers expect more runners to take part in all three events.

Entry forms are available from Kings Langley Primary School in Common Lane or can be downloaded from their website.
