Dozens of students had a “once in a lifetime opportunity” to play cricket at one of the world's most famous cricket stadiums.

Fifty students from Rickmansworth School, Scots Hill, were invited to take part in a series of small games on the outfield of Lords Cricket Ground in St Johns Wood, London on Friday.

The pupils from years seven and eight were invited to the England Vs New Zealand Test Match by Chance to Shine- a charity set up to increase participation in cricket in schools across the UK.

The games on the field at Friday lunchtime- a 40 minute break in the day's play- were set up to promote cricket in state schools.

Assistant Headteacher Anthony Smith said: “It was an incredible experience for students and staff to play cricket in front of a packed house at Lords, a real once in a lifetime opportunity for our students and a day they will never forget.

"Our thanks must go to 'Chance to Shine' for inviting us along.”
