Staff, volunteers and shoppers will be saying a final farewell to the Peace Hospice Care charity store in the centre of High Street.

The shop, which opened in November 2010, has been forced to close its doors to trading from the end of June after a compulsory purchase order.

The store has helped generate a considerable income for the Hospice. Together with 12 other charity stores, it has helped to raise an annual £4.2 million of charitable income to run services at Peace Hospice Care.

Staff and volunteers who worked at the store have been redeployed or signposted to help in other roles at the Hospice.

Peace Hospice Care director of trading, Steve Rose, said: "Our Watford 2 shop has certainly made its mark on the High Street since it opened in November 2010.

"Regrettably we had no choice but to cease trading, but we hope the community continues to support us by continuing to shop, donate and volunteer at our 12 other shops including our original Watford Shop at 174 High Street just past the intu Watford shopping centre.

"We thank all the staff, volunteers and shoppers who have been part of the success of this shop and who gave their time, energy and commitment.

"This shop will be sorely missed but we are actively looking for new other commercial opportunities that are right for us for the future."
