The tenth anniversary of the Watford Celebration multi cultural event took place in the Multi Cultural Community Centre and St Michael and All Angels Church in Durban Road on Bank Holiday Monday.

The celebrations began with the cutting of the cake, decorated in Watford colours, by Lady Verulam, the Lord Lieutenant of Hertfordshire.

She was joined by councillor Kareen Hastrick, chair of Watford Borough Council, commander Andy Hopcraft of Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue Services and Judge Laurence Brass, vice chair and treasurer of the Board of Deputies of British Jews.

International foods were on offer and guests were able to watch performances including Chinese dancers and singers, the Sunshine Ukulele band and a comedy routine from 'Victoria Sponge' as well as a kendo demonstration.

In addition there was a Polish children's choir and folk singers Julian Mount and Linda Birmingham.

In the sacred space, a room set aside from the main hall, a lively multi faith discussion took place about freedom of speech, followed by demonstrations about stained glass windows, Indian Bhajans, a meditation session and the Gospel Manna Choir.

There were also activities for children too with craft tables, face painting, a bouncy castle and and a Thomas Town model railway layout.
