A Northwood hospice hopes more people will join their biggest fundraising event of the year as they bid to raise more than £1million to maintain patient care.

The Michael Sobell Hospice is holding the Ladies in the Night Walk on Friday, June 12 with 1,000 walkers already signed up to the event.

This is the fifth time the Rickmansworth Road hospice has held the event and they are hoping to raise £80,000 from the event.

The hospice needs to raise £1.6million this year to maintain its current level of patient care.

Walkers can choose from either a five and a half mile route or a nine mile route which starts and ends at the hospice in Northwood.

Participants are encouraged to dress up in pink with flashing headgear and accessories.

The event will start with a Zumba warm up session and the walk will take people through the local area.

Ophelia Chambers-Henry, events and community fundraising manager said: “This year’s event is going to be the biggest one yet, there will be a great party atmosphere and community spirit and we really hope to smash our fundraising target.”

People can register on the hospice’s website: www.michaelsobellhospice.co.uk and registration before June 5 costs £20. Registration on the night is £25. Anyone interested should call 01923 844152.
